Post by Jenni Pagett, Publicity Officer. I went along to the last group session of the year in December and I had a very enjoyable time. I arrived as group members were setting up and tuning their instruments. They started playing with “On the Road Again” and it was wonderful. Everyone played their own instruments and they were accompanied by an electric bass guitar. Group members took turns to choose a song to play. If anyone wanted to sing along, they could go to the front and use the microphone, although I noticed that the majority were singing along where they sat.

I understand that in the usual sessions, one or a couple of members lead the singing and playing having volunteered to do so, and by prior arrangement. Everyone that wants to sings and plays as a group.

One member told me “They are a fabulous group of people” and I really enjoy it as “It gives me a chance to do what I have always wanted to do, but didn’t have time to do whilst I was working”.

I couldn’t stop smiling whilst I was there, and I even ended up singing along to the songs that I knew! I hope I didn’t put anyone off. They played a wide range of tunes, both older and newer although my favourite had to be Hi Ho Silver Lining.
